Presentation Skills

Delivering a presentation, whether in the form of a speech, a workshop or a webcast, is more than simply delivering facts. It is an exercise in connection, in which the audience is inspired to learn and the value of the event is tangible and measurable. The Bristall Morgan Presentation Skills course delivers the key abilities and techniques required for an individual to make a strong and lasting impact.

We offer a half-day and full-day session. The half-day session delivers the key elements below, plus a video review of great famous speakers, to identify and discuss their techniques.

The full-day course involves all of the above, plus participants are assigned a topic to present on for three minutes. The presentations are video-recorded and critiqued.

Session topics include:

  • Understanding the elements of presenting: why present? What are the objectives?
  • Understanding your audience – knowledge, attention span, interest level.
  • Identifying the message
  • Determining how much information to deliver
  • Identifying and communicating action items
  • How busy people project plan a presentation (research, draft 1, draft 2, rehearsal, delivery, follow through & review)
  • Structuring a presentation for maximum impact
  • Presentation Styles: speech, workshop, meeting, webconference, teleconference
  • Best Practices for using PowerPoint
  • Poise and visual presentation (how you look)
  • Voice control and pacing (how you sound)
  • Using speaker’s notes
  • Appearing genuinely spontaneous and energetic
  • Dealing with nerves and stress
  • Dealing with audience questions
  • Dealing with hecklers and disturbances
  • Room dynamics and lighting
  • Techniques for rehearsal and preparation
  • Presentation openings and introductions
  • Presentation closure

No matter what the topic of the presentation, success comes down to a balance between information and dynamic delivery: a seamless performance that never distracts an audience but instead focuses the attention onto your message.
